Scholarship Consideration

Our General Application is available on the portal from September – June. This application, in addition to college- and departmental-level applications (depending on your program of study), must be completed each year.

We also recommend that you complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year. Many scholarships have financial need-based qualifications. For additional information on completing the FAFSA, please visit the website for the Office of Student Financial Aid.

To apply for scholarships in the portal, you must be a currently enrolled or an admitted incoming student with a valid HawkID and password. (New students are provided information on establishing their HawkID and password via email after submitting their application to the Office of Admissions. If you cannot locate this email, please contact Admissions at 319-335-3847 or admissions@uiowa.edu.)

Be sure to check application deadlines and complete all required questions by the dates listed for individual opportunities. Deadlines for college and departmental applications may not be provided on the portal. You can find this information on the college or departmental website, or by contacting them directly.

Newly admitted first year students who elect to test after the October ACT and November SAT test dates are advised that we cannot guarantee scores will be received and processed in time for all scholarship deadlines.

Individual departments and colleges notify scholarship recipients of awards. Timing of awards and methods of notification vary across campus. If you have questions, contact the department or college directly.
